During my stint at Mandawewala & Co for 2 years from Sep'07 to Sep'09, I had my first interface with Auditing Mantras. My love at first sight with audit continued when was when I worked in Deloitte AERS India Pvt. Ltd. Hyderabad from Nov'10 to Jan'12
Business Cycle Controls (BCC)
We worked on Business Cycle Controls (BCC) where the platter laid out for us had multiple business process controls testing assignments and also developed test
scripts and testing templates for business processes like revenue, expenses,
order to cash, procure to pay, inventory, fixed assets, treasury and payroll. We also worked on
independent testing as well as review of operating effectiveness of
management’s testing for procure to pay, revenue, expenditures, fixed assets,
and inventory business cycles.
Risk Assessment
We were into risk assessment in a major fashion when I engaged in a risk assessment project that involved identifying major risks affecting
the client on parameters like financials, judgments, disclosures, history of
issues, complexity, external market factors, etc. I received an applause award
for the project.
I also analyzed
the outcomes of various web surveys conducted by clients for assessing the
internal and external risks factors associated with them and have analyzed the
information based on impact and vulnerability of issues and presented the
results in the form of a deck to the board members.
External Audit
Involved
in the end to end audit (Full scope audit and TC201 audit) of a major real
estate client of the firm where I handled the usual rigmarole of Bank ,
Accounts Receivable, Deferred Rent Receivables, Deferred charges and other
assets, Fixed Assets, Depreciation, Debt, Accounts Payable, Accrued expenses,
Revenue and Expense Testing.
External Audit Support
We worked on
an external audit support project, wherein I was required to verify if the
acquittal packs and financial statements prepared by various NGOs and service
organisations are according to the acquittal guidelines as specified by Funding
organization and report any non-compliance.
Rewards and Recognitions
Received
the Partner Principal Director Applause Award for work done in External Audit. Also won the “Quality Quiz Contest” organized for AERS professionals in India as well as the
Manager’s Spot Award on a risk assessment project
